Mary Queen Of Scots

Mary Queen Of Scots were a band who wrote and recorded songs from 1991 to 1994. Based in Birmingham, UK and influenced by Sarah Records, Brighter, Another Sunny Day and The Carousel, the music dealt with the eternal tale of love and loss.

A 10 song compilation tape (songs 2 - 11) was released in 1993. A split single (tracks 12 - 14) with Peru was released by Waaaaaah! / Bring On Bull in 1993. Soon after, the song "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" was contributed to the Waaaaaah! / Bring On Bull "Sound Of Music" tribute LP. Songs also made it onto various compilation tapes, most notably, Gerard Mucci's C92 and Bliss/Aquamarine. An old interview for Bliss/Aquamarine can be found here.

From then on apathy set in; demo songs were recorded but nothing else released. Here then, for better or for worse, are MP3s of the songs recorded during those turbulent years; very much a product of its time but nevertheless they may have some emotional relevance, one hopes, even today.

If you've not heard any of these songs before you may like to listen to Around The Sun, Another Sunny Day, The Only One, Kimberley and One Day to start with.

All songs performed and recorded by Mary Queen Of Scots.

All songs written by Mary Queen Of Scots except 4 and 15.

Lyrics can be found here.

Thanks: Ruaraidh, Kim, Brian (of Peru), Richard (of Waaaaaah!), Simon (for collecting my post and use of keyboards and gadgets), Sue (for single artwork) and everyone else who helped and encouraged along the way.

All songs were recently remixed to digital media from original analogue 4-track recordings. The MP3s were ripped using FreeRIP. To keep file sizes small, quality has been compromised a bit.

If you prefer to listen to the songs in CD quality, please email me for more details. Prices for the CD (inc. p+p) are £3 for the UK, £4 for Europe and £5 for Rest of the World. Payment by PayPal preferred. Please note that CDs are created on my own computer; so make sure your CD player can play music CD-Rs.
